Siamak & Baquer Namazi

Siamak Namazi is a 50-year-old American Iranian dual national, business executive, and scholar. He was arbitrarily arrested by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on October 13th, 2015 while on a trip visiting his parents. Initially, he was held incommunicado in Ward 2A of Evin Prison – an IRGC-controlled wing of the prison used to house political prisoners – where he was subjected to inhuman conditions, denial of access to medical care, and physical and psychological torture. Although he had not committed any crimes, Siamak was convicted of "collaboration with a hostile government" for his ties to the United States and sentenced to ten years in prison in a sham trial alongside his father, Baquer Namazi, in October 2016. He remains in Evin Prison, where he continues to be denied access to proper medical care and has been repeatedly exposed to Covid-19.

Baquer Namazi is an 85-year-old American Iranian dual national, former UNICEF representative, and lifelong humanitarian. On February 22nd, 2016, he was arbitrarily arrested at the airport after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) lured him back to Iran under the false pretenses of finally being able to visit his imprisoned son, Siamak Namazi. Initially, he was held in Ward 2A of Evin Prison – an IRGC-controlled wing of the prison used to house political prisoners – where he was subjected to inhuman conditions, prolonged solitary confinement, and denial of access to adequate medical care despite serious health concerns, including an arrhythmia. Although he had not committed any crimes, Baquer was convicted of "collaboration with a hostile government" for his ties to the United States and sentenced to ten years in prison in a sham trial alongside his son in October 2016. His health declined rapidly in Evin Prison, causing him to undergo two surgeries and be rushed to the hospital roughly a dozen times. In 2018, he was placed on a highly restrictive medical furlough. Although Iran's Judiciary commuted Baquer's sentence to time served and closed his case in early 2020, Iranian authorities have maintained an arbitrary international travel ban on him and refused to issue him a passport, even in the face of life-threatening medical emergencies.
