Morad Tahbaz

Morad Tahbaz is a 66-year-old UK/US citizen unlawfully detained by Iran in Evin prison since January 2018, along with 8 Environmentalists from Persian Wildlife Heritage Foundation which he co-founded. He worked directly with Iranian Government and UNDP to save the Asiatic cheetah and other endangered species in Iran. A presidential commission appointed by President Rouhani investigated the allegations and declared publicly that Morad and his colleagues were innocent. In November 2019 Morad was falsely convicted of spying and sentenced to 10 years in prison. For the last four years UK with US support has been seeking Morad's freedom but in March 2022, UKG betrayed Morad and left him behind in a deal that could have brought him home with the other two UK Citizens. Morad has a history of cancer and suffers of complications which have recurred during his time in prison and has been hospitalized on multiple occasions. He has contracted Covid multiple times and his health is at serious risk. Morad has been away from his three children and mother of 93 years old for more than 4 years. His wife, Vida has been also on a travel ban in Iran for the last four years.
