There are over
54 innocent Americans being held hostage or wrongfully detained abroad.

Bring Our Families Home (BOFH) campaigns to bring attention to the individuals being wrongfully detained overseas and calls on the White House to take immediate decisive action to #bringthemhome.

We work to raise awareness of the shocking number of detainees by sharing the stories of family members being wrongfully held through media outlets, murals, and marches.

Raise Awareness

We need the White House to use all the tools on the table to bring wrongfully detained individuals home. By calling and writing elected officials in D.C., we ask the Administration to take action to #bringthemhome.

Take Action for Our Cause

We have partnered with the James W. Foley Legacy Foundation, a registered 501(c)3 organization, as our fiscal sponsor to enable the public to directly fund our advocacy.

In July 2022, we unveiled a public mural in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C. showcasing the faces of 18 American hostages and wrongful detainees held abroad. The mural was designed and installed by Iowan artist Isaac Campbell to bring awareness and public recognition to the plight of these detainees and increase bipartisan support to bring them home.

Learn About & Use the Open-Source Flag!

Similar to the cause of POWs and MIAs, hostages and wrongful detainees need an official flag to illustrate and remind the American people of the constant struggle of so many American families.

This flag was not created by or for the BOFH campaign.

It was developed by an independent artist with the input of many families of current hostages, former hostages and the organizations that support them.

The flag is not owned by anyone or any specific organization. It is meant to be used by any person or organization that wants to stand in solidarity with this cause.

Hostage Week 2023

The Bring Our Families Home campaign gathered for two events on the anniversary of the one-year make of launching this campaign. See compiled images from our candlelight vigil and press gathering in front of the White House in the video.

These gatherings took place in recognition of Hostage Week from May 1st through the 4th.
